The best places to visit in Morocco

Whether you're planning a week in Morocco or a longer holiday, five regions hold most of what makes the country unforgettable: the desert, the imperial medinas, the High Atlas, the Atlantic coast and the Marrakech souks. Here's how to think about each one.

Best time to visit, by region

  • October to April — desert & south
The best window for Erg Chigaga and the Sahara: cool nights, mild days, and skies clear enough for genuine stargazing.
  • March to June — imperial medinas
Fès, Marrakech and Chefchaouen are at their best before the summer heat sets in, with light that's ideal for walking tours.
  • May to September — Atlantic coast
Essaouira benefits from summer trade winds that temper the heat — the best season for its wild beaches and terrace-side medina life.
  • June to September — High Atlas
The Berber valleys and Toubkal trails are most accessible in summer, once the mountain passes are clear of snow.

Getting there

Most of our travellers arrive via Casablanca Mohammed V airport or Marrakech Menara airport. Every journey includes a private transfer from the moment you land, and itineraries can be arranged to start from Casablanca if that's your entry point into Morocco.
