A boldly individual medina hotel where Moroccan craft, mid-century furniture and a private art collection meet 41 rooms, three pools and a vast rooftop.
El Fenn is less a conventional riad than a small, layered neighbourhood behind one medina door. Its interconnected courtyards and 41 individually designed rooms use saturated colour, tadelakt, carved plaster and cedar alongside European mid-century pieces and works from co-owner Vanessa Branson's private collection. The result is expressive rather than restrained: one room may have a camel-leather floor, another a silver bath or gold-leaf headboard. Outside the rooms, the 1,300 sqm roof terrace becomes the hotel's social heart, with a heated 13-metre pool, daybeds, Atlas views, cocktails and a restaurant built around local seasonal produce. Two further pools, including a 12-metre garden lap pool and an all-year heated spa pool, create quieter alternatives. Its location five minutes from Jemaa el-Fna makes the hotel especially compelling for travellers who want strong design, serious downtime and immediate access to the medina in equal measure.
